my little pony My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is an animated television series that premiered on October 10, 2010, on the United States cable network The Hub. Hasbro Studios and DHX Media's animation studio in Vancouver (formerly known as Studio B Productions) produce the series, which is based on Hasbro, Inc's My Little Pony line of toys and animated works. As of April 2012, the show has completed its second season in the United States, and is broadcasting internationally in dozens of countries in over ten languages.
Hasbro selected animator Lauren Faust as the creative director and executive producer for the show. Faust sought to challenge the established "girly" nature of the existing My Little Pony line, creating more in-depth characters and adventurous settings, incorporating Hasbro's suggestions for E/I ("educational and informational") content and marketing of the toy line. Faust stepped down after the first season, but remains as consulting producer. Jayson Thiessen, the show's supervising director, became the showrunner starting with season two.
The show follows a studious unicorn pony named Twilight Sparkle as her mentor Princess Celestia guides her to learn about friendship in the town of Ponyville. Twilight becomes close friends with five other ponies: Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie. Each represents a different face of friendship, and discovers herself to be a key part of the "Elements of Harmony". The ponies share adventures and help out other residents of Ponyville, while working out the troublesome moments in their own friendships.
The show has been critically praised for its humor and moral outlook. Despite the target demographic of young girls and their parents, Friendship Is Magic has gained a large following of older viewers, predominately male teenagers and adults, who call themselves "bronies". Reasons for this unintended appreciation include Faust and her team's creative writing and characterization, the expressive Flash-based animation style, themes that older audiences can appreciate, and a reciprocal relationship between Hasbro, the creators, and the fans. Elements of the show have become part of the remix culture and have formed the basis for a variety of Internet memes. =Quoted from Wikipedia=

(Going to add a different opinion, because diversity is good)
I really don't understand how this show is so good, i can understand smaller kids liking it but not older teenagers and even adults. I have seen a few episodes and am not impressed...

(Going to add a different opinion, because diversity is good) I really don't understand how this show is so good, i can understand smaller kids liking it but not older teenagers and even adults. I have seen a few episodes and am not impressed... I see both your point and people who like the show's point. Me? I think the show is extremely good...for a children's show. Within those parameters, the characters and writing are strong and diverse, the plots are not COMPLETELY annoying, and the animation is very unique and cute. Do I think it is an amazing, awesome, out-of-this-world television show on its' own, when standing among other, more adult shows? No, not really. Do I think people are slightly overreacting about this show? Yes. But can I not at all understand why people like it? No. Also...I think it's something of a guilty pleasure for people. It's something they can watch that's light and fun, but not something that has them thinking too hard or something they have to commit too. I also think it's very comforting for teenagers in particular (and I'm writing this as a teenager) to have some kind of connection to their childhood. It makes you feel nostalgic, you know? Anyway, that's my take on it.

I can see where you come from, Der. Some episodes are less great than others, but I grew up with the animation of Lauren Faust (Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls) and it's like Angel said - a guilty pleasure. I like to cling to my childhood, and it took me a while after figuring out about the show to actually grow to like it. My youngest sister was watching it, and I was like "What the heck are you watching?" It looked like yet another thing of My Little Pony, which had never really captured my attention long enough to truly captivate me before.
However, with so many friends talking about it, I decided that I would check it out to see what the whole brouhaha was about. I began watching it from a critical perspective, but the characters soon captivated me with their varied personalities, and the plots for episodes were cute. Unlike so many children's shows, there seemed to be an aim for older audiences, which might have been some of what got me. (because a lot of the jokes go right over my sister's head, and I die from laughing at them)

I guess I was really destined to watch the show and like it. When I was younger, and this ancient computers were around, the windows 95, I had the My Little Pony game I think it was Friendship Garden. It was one of my favourites. I watched the show to see what it was that so many people seemed to like. The characters were just so cute. I was draw in. :3
